SEO FAIL: Even Indian Companies Resort to Lies to Get Ahead Now

Services for Real Estate Pros with Virtual Pictures Corp. (VPiX)

If you've been following my blog, or read either of my first two books -- then you'll know I don't like to sugar coat or white wash anything.  While some people might call this being a bit "abrasive," I simply call it like it is.

Because if looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck -- right?  The same thing applies to marketing bozos and over-promising clowns.

I run two companies in addition to my Tony Robbins master consulting training.  While I'm currently being groomed by my existing coach -- I'm already helping brokers bulldoze their businesses and retuning them.

So with me working 78+ hours a week -- I have little time to deal with marketing bozos that claim to know how to do SEO when all they really know how to do is fake it.

To the unsuspecting REALTOR, E-mails like the one I just received might sound good to you.

But when your check book has no more checks left to write, and your ranking is still boat-anchored somewhere on page 13 with nothing but excuses from the so-called SEO bozo you hired -- it has a profound effect. It quickly sharpens up your BS Detector for the next guy promising you the same thing.

The point of this blog is about one of the worst SEO FAILS I have ever seen in my life.

Just today, I get this SEO e-mail from a man calling himself Pradeep, an SEO Consultant.

  • No phone #
  • No website
  • No credentials whatsoever

You don't need to activate the Internet "scratch n sniff," APP to smell the BS.  It's reeks enough just when I read his e-mail the first time.

Despite having zero credentials, a website or a contact phone number, he claims to have done a search of Bing, Google and Yahoo and has come to the conclusion I need his help for SEO.

What Pradeep doesn't know is that the former Google AdSense Business manager at Google for 5+ years is my best friend and is my SEO Partner.

Another thing Pradeep doesn't know is that we have 2 Google AdWords account managers on my company payroll that managed AdWords campaigns for Google Australia (big) clients.

Below is a copy of his e-mail to me, followed by my reply.

If Pradeep does give me his reply, I'll be sure to included it in a follow up here on Active Rain.

BOTTOM LINE: It's still a jungle out there, people. Be careful and be very suspicious when you get crap advertising like this to your inbox.

FACT: Reputable SEO companies will never solicit you like this.

You will never get a single solicitation from the big SEO firms out there like:  Bruce Clay, iProspect, Aaron Wall (SEO Book), or our firm.   EVER.

Advertising in the online world is one of the most inexpensive and highly effective methods of promoting a business.

(BART's NOTE: THIS IS SEO FAIL #1.  Really? That's good news, because according to Business Week, CNN, Wired Magazine... Paid Search is 23% more expensive in 2014 than it was in 2013.)
I was surfing through your website and analyzed that despite having a great design; it was not ranking on any of the search engines (Google Yahoo and Bing) for most of the keywords relating to your business.

(BART's NOTE: THIS IS SEO FAIL #2. What Keywords did you use? What website did you visit? We own and run several.)
I am affiliated with an SEO company based in India that has helped over 200 businesses rank on the 1st Page of Google for even the most competitive Industries.
We assure you that our SEO prices will give you good amount of margin in your pocket. Also, Your Company and your customer information will be confidential.
Let me know if you are interested and I will send you our company details or create a proposal so you can see exactly where you rank compared to your competitors.

(BART's NOTE: THIS IS SEO FAIL #3. Okay so you lied? You didn't check my rank as you said above?)
I look forward to your mail.
Warm Regards
Pradeep Arora

Kaise Ho Pradeep,

I think your marketing needs a little more work, sir.
My SEO business partner and best friend is Ashish Agrawal -- the former Google AdSense Business manager. I hired him away from Google more than 2 years ago. Including 2 Google AdWords account managers that did work for Google Australia.
Because I run a software company in Pune India, I know and appreciate how smart India software companies can help many of us out with outsourcing.
So forgive me by telling you that you just ran into a company that does have page one ranking on Google, Yahoo and Bing. We have had page one visibility since 2004.
Which means I just caught you in a bold faced lie.
And now I know you didn't spend any time whatsoever digging into my website's ranking on Google Bing or Yahoo.
I thought that lying to get ahead was one of the things that most Indians would never do.  Integrity, honor and just being regarded as begin seen as a nice and honest person just went right out the window for me.
On a parting note -- it's kind of sad to see that the American practice of "lie, cheat and steal," seems to have found its way to your country now -- as evidenced by your email.
Well, good luck next time.
