It happens.

These homeowners often present to the movers that extra couch or table that won’t find a home in their new abode.

Then, there are the folks who realize that specific items aren’t allowed on the moving truck, such as liquids. That happened to me. I had given many belongings away before moving day. But what to do with a dozen bottles of Autocrat Coffee Syrup? Too late to call anyone and, not wanting to dispose of the sweet syrup, I offered it to the movers Jacksonville, Fl.

They’d never heard of coffee syrup. Typically, you stir a few tablespoons of the dark, sweet liquid into an ice-cold glass of milk. For the most part, it’s almost exclusively a Rhode Island drink. Developed in the early 1930s, it was proclaimed the official state drink in the mid 1990s. If you add coffee ice cream to the milk and syrup and put the concoction in a blender, you’ve got a coffee cabinet.  That’s another Rhode Island thing. A cabinet here is the word for milkshake. Anyways, locals miss coffee syrup when they move away, as I had. 

Just last weekend, my daughter, Allison, and her boyfriend, Abe, bought coffee syrup in Rhode Island because they cannot buy it in Boston. And, last month I toted some in my suitcase bound for Florida for my son, who missed coffee syrup. I’ve heard the movers Jacksonville, Fl., now crave it, too.
