When Selling Put All Valuables and Harmful Items Away.

Here are some important tips for Sellers. Be prepared for having your home shown. While agents keep an eye on the people they show the home to, it only takes a few seconds for sticky fingers to pick up valuables.

Take time to prepare your home and Put all Valuables and Harmful Items away.

When Selling Put All Valuables and Harmful Items Away

When selling put all valuables and harmful items awayWhen selling a Clarksville TN home, I tell my sellers about things to prepare for showing their home. Much of the preparation has to do with home staging and getting the home in show- ready condition. If these things are done properly then their Clarksville TN home will generally sell faster and not linger on the market.

But there are some other things that Clarksville TN home sellers should do in preparation of selling. All valuables should be secure and out of sight. It just makes sense to not have jewelry and money laying around to tempt little fingers or sticky fingers. I am glad to report that I have not had anything disappear from my listings during showings but that is because I prepare my sellers. Why not stay on the safe side?

Other things that should be out of sight and secure are prescription medicines. There have been reported cases across the country of prescriptions disappearing after a showing. Lock them up and for heaven's sake don't leave them out in plain sight. They are small and so easy to slip in a pocket or open and borrow a few pills.

As for firearms and other weapons, you may want to remove them entirely during the showing period. Having a gun safe in an MLS photo may give someone of less than honorable intentions ideas to do harm. So think smart and go the extra step in taking precautions so nobody will be hurt and you don't lose anything of value.

And by all means do not put your Clarksville home on the market until you have removed all harmful items. Though this may sound absurd and something that would never happen, you just might see things you know shouldn't be there. I saw bucket marked Explosives under the basement steps in a showing. I didn't get close enough to verify the contents and it may have been nothing, but then again it may have been something.

John, Great advice to ensure peace of mind when people are walking through a home. And YES!, many will look in drawers and cupboards, so put it away or take it off the premises!

Great Post. I encourage sellers to put everything of value away, especially prescription pills. So easy for someone to pick that up without notice.

Better safe than sorry....good advice...and you may wish to go thru the house with the Seller who no longer really sees items that have been there forever as something that should be removed.

Sally, thanks for stopping by with a great comment. You are right, sellers are so accustomed to valuables being in their place that they overlook putting them away.

Walking through with them and pointing things out could be a great help.
