Do You Take Walking For Granted?
I am asking for your help. I am fund raising again this year.
In 2013, I was one of the top 150 individual fund raisers in the Denver area raising over $1600 for Muscular Sclerosis. This year, I have increased my goal to $3000 and I hope to be in the top 100 fund raisers. I had support from several Rainers last year and already have had had some support from many of you this year. (Thank you to those of you who have already sponsored me.) But I am hoping to increase my number of ActiveRain supporters. Last year I almost wasn't able to complete the walk, as I suffer from foot drop which causes difficulty in walking. One of the golf carts with volunteers asked me if I wanted a ride to the finish line because I was struggling to walk. But I was determined to walk across the finish line. So I had to stop and rest for about 40 minutes to allow my legs to rest before continuing. Here is a photo of me at the finish line with some walkers that I met while resting.
I have written about MS in the past. Living with an Elephant - How One Thing Changed My Life. I know all too much about it. I was diagnosed with MS back in 1997 and with my first episode occurring as early as 1995. There is no cure yet, nor do they have a cause. But all the fund raising efforts go towards research to one day have answers to these unanswered questions.
Please visit my website to sponsor me and make a donation. The Denver MS Walk is a 3 mile walk to be held at City Park this coming Saturday, May 3rd. You can learn more about Muscular Sclerosis facts, symptoms and the research that is currently being done on several different website on the Internet.
Again, I hope you will please sponsor me in my fund raising efforts in moving towards a cure in the fight against Muscular Sclerosis. Feel free to reblog this post to get the word out. The more money I can raise , the closer to a cure we can get.
