Emphatically YES !! Statics show that vacant homes take on average twice as long to sell and in this challenging market are currently at a 40-year inventory high! Research has also shown that as little as 10% of buyers can visualize the potential of a vacant home, with the result that it is more difficult for them to have that all important first emotional connection to the property. As we all know and agree, first impressions are the most important, so why not capitalize on this? Home staging, whether in vacant homes or occupied homes, does make the difference between the property being on the market for an extended period of time and in all likelihood selling for less than the original asking price or whether it sells quicker and at the asking price.
Vacant homes too seem smaller than if they were staged. Staging also creates the impression and feeling of a real home rather than just a big, open, cold and echoing space.
With so many homes on the market at the moment it is extremely important for homeowners and realtors to realize the value in partnering with a home stager - an effectively staged home sets it apart from an unstaged home.
I have been in the decorating and design industry for some 27 years and have seen many instances where effective marketing and selling the so called "challenging" property was transformed into the "model" property merely by staging.
I would encourage all home sellers and realtors alike to seriously consider partnering with a home stager in their area. Our company, for example, has various options and programs available both as partners with realtors and for home sellers - all with the common goal to maximize the profits and getting the home sold sooner.
