If I could, I would…….

Traveling teaches many things. Among those are patience, understanding and if you are fortunate: gratitude and empathy. In so many parts of the world hardship is the norm and disease is rampant. It is hard to believe that folks work twelve hour days just to get by and have to take three taxis just to get to their jobs. And the reality is that these are the lucky ones because they have work. On a bad day, remember this. On a good day do what you can to help those who would trade places with you on the worst day you ever had. Life is complicated and hard, and if you live here, you should remember how lucky the accident of your birthplace was.

No kidding, Sheila! Travel is always an eye opener and an education. It's so easy to think that everyone else lives the way we do because we don't see anything else.

Good morning Sheila,

Traveling opens our eyes to how others live their days. We are indeed fortunate to live where we do. Love how much you appreciate living where you do.

All of which, of course, infuriates me when I read the U.S. critics.
What country is the destination of folks who want to leave where ever they are???

Sheila: Well said. It is very sobering to travel the globe and realize that so many small things we take for granite each day are not a world norm.

Good morning friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support: I really appreciate it.

Hello Nina. You are exactly right. If we don't see ourselves we don't really get it. Just one of the many benefits of travel. Thank you.

Hi Dorie. I am very fortunate to be where I am. I worked hard and I paid attention but that doesn't guarantee anything really. Thank you.

Hello Lenn. I hear what you are saying. Anger however isn't something that makes us strong, it is our ability to see our problems and voice our views so that things can improve. We are not perfect but we are a work in progress that is generally better than other options. Thank you.

Hi Amanda. I love my country, my surroundings and my environment but we have those here who make me sad too. Thank you.

Sheila

Thank you for this reminder Sheila.  We should all be feeling grateful for what we have, regardless because there are others so much worse off.  Hope you had a wonderful trip!

Chief Cook reminds me frequently, that while our row is hard to handle some days, it could be far worse living in a Third World Country.  Very wise, Sheila!
