This is not one of those life-changing questions, but it was one I was pondering this morning while sitting outside taking in the morning glow on Fishhawk Lake and listening to the chants of the various birds saying good morning. Tuesday is my favorite day of the week.
It's one of those days that's rather forgotten. The day after Monday, which can be harried as people catch up after the weekend and appointments are scheduled and people just hit the ground running on Mondays.Tuesday on the the other hand is known for nothing. There's a bit of a calm after the storm of a typical Monday. It gives people a breather. Wednesday is Hump Day, Thursday is the day before the weekend, and then we all know what Friday through Sunday can bring for all of us, in different forms, but the weekends have a spot all of their own for the most part.
Tuesdays are notoriously a low retail day. Senior discounts are on Tuesdays. I went to see Cirque de Soleil on a Tuesday night recently, because Wednesday, the original day we planned to go, was much more expensive. See my point?
I love Tuesdays for those reasons and just because....I think I might have been born on a Tuesday. According to some astrology book years ago, I think it told me that "my day" was Tuesday. And I almost feel like I'm alone on this day as a favorite, because when I tell people it's my favorite day, they don't have much to say--it kind of surprises them!
In today's history, there are many birthdays of artists, composers, writers. William Randolph Hearst was born on this day. Joan of Arc arrived at the seige of Orleans on this day in 1429. My brother-in-law and a past boyfriend of mine were born on this day. There's actually a website called It Happened on a Tuesday. It asks you to answer trivia questions. Obviously, people have more time to kill on a Tuesday, because not much else is going on.
And I'm going shopping today--I'll bet I get some kind of deal--
What's your favorite day of the week and why?
