It was announced Monday April 28th 2014, that Toyota Motor Corporation is relocating their national headquarters from Los Angeles, Ca to Plano, Tx. This is a significant move for the automaker and a tremendous addition to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Relocating The Toyota Motor Corporation

Toyota will create an environmentally sustainable campus like facility on a plot of undeveloped land owned by JC Penney. The move will involve approximately 2,000 employees from the marketing and sales division of Toyota Motor Sales. In addition, 1,000 employees are expected to migrate from the Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing plant in Erlanger, Ky. Toyota Motor North America in New York corporate employees will also be offered jobs in Texas. As the new Toyota Headquarters in Plano Texas nears completion in the year 2017, 1,000 additional employees from the Toyota Financial Services in Torrance Ca, are expected to follow. Altogether, these moves will affect approximately 4,000 employees. Over the last few decades, Toyota has shifted from an importer of Japanese vehicles to making most of its U.S.-market vehicles in North America. The move to Plano Texas makes sense and will put Toyota much closer to its key plants along with a lower cost of living and more appealing tax structure than California.

The new Toyota headquarters will be located in Plano Texas, just South of SH 121 and West of the Dallas North Tollway.
