The Portland Waterfront Run:  Portland Waterfront living

Portland has some wonderful hikes and trails - that has never come into question.  This entire Portland Oregon region lives and breathes the great green outdoors so why wouldn't there be some of the most amazing places to run, walk, hike, or bike?  This is one of the urban trails we like..

If you live anywhere in the Portland area this waterfront loop is a nice daily walk and a "must do" for your out of town visitors. If you live in one of the many gorgeous Pearl District condos or other nearby Portland neighborhoods, then this Portland waterfront river walk would be a great daily ritual!

There is lots of information online if you are interested in a PDX hike or other outdoor activity.

The Portland Running Company is just one of those great resources as they have a lot of mapped trails laid out for you. The waterfront loop we like to walk is actually slightly over 2.6 miles long and very easy. I like the Portland Running Company's description of the waterfront loop walk:

"This run is flat and scenic!

 Start at Waterfront Park

Go north on the running path until the Steel Bridge

Cross over the Willamette

Follow the new Esplanade to OMSI

Go up the stairs to the Hawthorne Bridge bike path

Cross over the Willamette

Take the off ramp to Waterfront Park"

Do The River Walk.....

The Portland Waterfront Loop or RiPortland waterfront walkver Walk is basically a loop crossing the Steel Bridge and the Hawthorne Bridge with the Tom McCall waterfront park and the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade in the middle.

Want A Bigger Loop? Pick a different bridge to cross.  You may have noticed that Portland has a lot of bridges.  You don't have to commit to just one if you want to keep going. If you want to make it a really long course, then try crossing at the Sellwood Bridge instead of the Hawthorne Bridge to make it more challenging.

Please let us know how you enjoy your Portland living.  We always love hearing about other PDX Loops and trails - whether urban or wilderness.  Also, let us know if you are interested in looking at Portland Homes for sale near this wonderful walk.

Great job representing the Southern half of the "Upper Left" Pacific Northwest! The River Walk is a pretty great asset for the entire PDX area!
