I was reading in the New York Times about how young people are really changing the marketing when it comes to wine. They're drinking a ton of it and are becoming quite finicky about types and tastes! My area of California, the resort area of the Palm Springs Valley, has responded with some amazing wine cellars at some of our local haunts. Here are a few examples.
Castelli's Ristorante: Palm Desert, California. Sommelier, John Coniff, keeps approx. 1,000 bottles of 240 wine brands in the cellar, mostly reds to go with the Italian cuisine.
The Wine Bar in Old Town La Quinta: Strictly wine, and some light foods. Wine tastings and wine education is offered, and flights may be purchased with healthy pours!
Le Vallauris, Palm Springs: Sommelier, Bruce Barrett has been here for 28 years. There is a 28 page wine list and amazing food!!
LG's Prime Steakhouse: La Quinta & Palm Springs. Over 350 selections in the Wine Cellar, to accompany the steak. Wine Wednesdays offer 50% off selected wines.
With China buying up wine at an astonishing clip, driving prices up..especially red wines, it may be time to try one of these wine lovers favorites here in the desert valley.
