Some of you are yelling “Hip...Hip....Hooray” ..I love to Spring Clean
Some of you over achievers are already done!
The rest of you are grumbling…..
Some of you love the thought of making everything fresh and clean. Opening the windows for some fresh air, maybe changing some decor to match the spring lovin' mood. Scrubbing the floors, washing windows, cleaning upholstery, and getting rid of the winter stale air while others well…are happy if their dirty sox makes it in the next load of laundry instead of under the bed.
So for those who are ready to clean! ...Or those who have nothing else to do...
Don’t forget your office space!
Schedule a “clean up day” or days depending on how bad it really is. Be prepared and have your staff prepared to tackle the challenges head on, feet first, or knee deep if it is really bad.
Need some hip-waders?
Make if fun! (Ok, for those who think they can make cleaning fun) Offer to buy a special lunch for the office, or let it be a casual day, have a contest on who can win the clean desk contest!
Alright that might be a little over the top….
Review your filing system, upload documents to your online property management software so you can remove that pile from your desk that has been there for a while now making a nice placemat for your coffee cup in the morning.
Clean out your junk drawer. Don’t tell me you don’t have one, we all do! Where is your junk drawer? Time to clean it out. I need to clean my snack drawer. Crackers, jar of peanut butter and emergency soup in case I didn’t have time to pack a lunch...hmm..what is the mystery green stuff in there???
Go through your marketing material, throw out the outdated stuff. Bundle it up and take it to your local recycling center. Organize the current material so you can grab it when you need it.
While cleaning out your desk and drawers, might as well tackle your desktop too! We all save emails, voice messages, electronic documents that we no longer need...Organize them into your electronic folders, send them to your junk folder or delete!
And last but not least……
Who is guilty out there of having a ring around the monitor with all their sticky notes? Sticky notes!!! My all time favorite office supply ever! Time to clean them up!
