If you are considering relocating to the Huntsville Alabama area get ready for lots of local entertainment.  Last week I wrote about Panoply Arts Festival and this week it's WhistleStop Festival & Rocket City BBQ

WhistleStop

WhistleStop is held every year here in Huntsville Alabama at the Historic Depot.  This is the 14th annual WhistleStop event attracting national teams; BBQ smokers, cookers and grillers from near and far.  Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, WhistleStop is not just a "lets get together and cook a little BBQ" but an elite event where the ultimate winner is entered into a pool to go to the Jack Daniels World Championship in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

This BBQ team caught my attention and deserves some kind of an award!  It reads: FAT, DRUNK & STUPID.

WhistleStop opened its doors yesterday and will continue through this evening and close at 11:00 PM so there's still plenty of time to taste some of the worlds best award winning Barbeque.  I was there earlier today and happened to pick a great time for sampling many different chefs BBQ.  It just so happened that vendors were giving out free samples from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM which helped to ease the $25 entry fee (1 day pass), kids 8 and under was $5.

WhistleStop was also an opportunity to taste some of Huntsville's local brewery's offerings.  There were games to be played, shade offered in the Roundhouse that once was a railroad station, local and a couple of world famous bands...two of my favorites; 38 Special and the Outlaws.

This years proceeds go to the Early Works Family of Museums.

The weather is perfect so head to downtown Huntsville Alabama and stop by the WhistleStop Festival & Rocket City BBQ, relax, listen to some great music and taste world class BBQ.
