There were two applications in: One form Tanger Outlets and the other one from Simon Property Group.
Tanger Outlets lost
Simon Property Group won!
"Tanger announced it was abandoning its proposed project in Montgomery County as well as one in Scottsdale, AZ" according to the Washington Business Journal
Apparently Tanger Factory Outlets Centers Inc. has decided to can the project bringing their business into Clarksburg Maryland.
After a long hard fight with city and county leaders, after spending 1.6 million dollars for pre-development costs., they threw the towel in and wished they never heard of Clarksburg Maryland and Ten Mile Creek (a huge reason for their expense)
This maybe bad news for Tanger Factory Outlets but good news for Clarksburg Residents.
It is good news because the company that won named Simon Property Group they specialize in high premium outlet centers in teh US and the quality of its stores are above Tangers.
The new Clarksburg Premium Outlets Center from Simon Property Group will be located just outside exit #18 Clarksburg - Boyds exit on I-270
Simon Propert Group says..."we will be open for business on Spring 2016!"
Let's break in the champagne for a new neighborhood as well.
