A DAY AT LOVERS KEY STATE PARK
After a very busy week of work, I felt the need for a little rest. I have found the place I relax best is at the beach.
One of my favorite beaches in Southwest Florida is at Lovers Key State Park. It has miles of shoreline with great water views.
Getting to Lovers Key State Park, we drove through Fort Myers Beach. They were having their 19th Annual Taste of the Beach featuring Baywalk Blues Festival.
I was very tempted to change my plans and participate in the event. They have such great restaurants we could have sampled. There was great music to enjoy. They even had a servers challenge with an obstacle course.
But, I really needed a quiet day at the beach.
Lovers Key State Park has received a national ranking as one of the top beaches in the country. I found an area that is away from the main crowd on the beach.
We saw many varieties of birds: Osprey, Pelicans, Seagulls, Sandpipers and others.
We were also treated to Dolphins cruising near shore.
Many people like to bring their pontoon boats and their family to the beach. They put the nose on the sand and have use of the boat and the shore for a picnic, swim and games.
Lovers Key State Park also has hiking and bike paths as well as kayak rental. All ages find the park and great beach a wonderful place for a day of fun and relaxation.
After a week of clouds and rain, we had a beautiful cloudless day and many were taking advantage of it.
Southwest Florida has many beaches and parks and events that will tickle the fancy for all ages and interests.
This is a great area to visit and a wonderful place to live.
While your visiting, be sure to try Lovers Key State Park.
