May Events in Denver By Marc Bayes

If you’re anything like me, you love being informed about the major events going on in the city. In Denver, there is so much excitement going on around us. Whether it’s a new restaurant opening, a cocktail event, fundraiser, new art exhibit; you name it and this city has got it. Here’s a breakdown of some cool things happening in the great city of Denver in May.

With May comes warm weather and outside fun! Washington Park just under went through some scrutiny over the “Sunday-Fun-Day” events in the park. If you haven’t been to Wash Park on a Sunday, it is a massive party. We’re talking about over a thousand people playing volleyball and having fun. There was a moment where Wash Park almost lost its ability to have alcohol in the park. Luckily that law did not pass and Wash Park Sundays can continue.

Are you into music and concerts? May has some awesome shows coming your way. Cyndi Lauper and Cher will be at the Pepsi Center Wednesday May 28th. Juan Gabriel will also be at the Pepsi Center on Friday, May 30th. Augustana will be at the Blue Bird May 7th, Charlie Daniels Band will be at Fiddler’s Green May 24th, and the Pretty Reckless will be at The Fillmore Auditorium May 30th.

Thinking something to eat in May? Who isn’t? Checkout Teriyaki Madness in University Hills which just opened. This is a Las Vegas based casual chain. The place holds around 54 guests with a niche that’s focused on teriyaki style foods. Argyll Whisky Bar is due to open June 1st. I’m including in this post because you’ll miss the grand opening if you wait for my June Blog. This place is going to be incredible and you should be there. Ryan Conklin will be running the beer program and if you’re are a whisky fan, than the name says all you need to know.

Into the theatre? Carmen is in town from May 3rd to May 11th at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. The Tony Awards best musical of the year is in town from May 6th through the 18th. This musical is called Once. It’s a story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant and their shared love of music. Once will be at Buell Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

If you hadn’t figured it out quite yet; there’s plenty to do in Denver for the month of April. I didn’t even touch on the art exhibits or festivals. There’s something for everyone here and that’s what makes Denver so great.
