Only 30-35 minutes from downtown Chicago by car, Scarsdale is located right next to the Arlington Heights train station which can get you to the city in around 40 minutes. In addition to close proximity to transportation and the city, Scarsdale is just walking distance to excellent restaurants, cafes and boutiques.

What's the Neighborhood Like?

Alrington Heights history begins back as early as 1835 making it one of the oldest commuter cities to Chicago. The train station was established in 1853 and from there the village began to grow into what it is today. Many homes in Scarsdale were built in the 1940's. Walking through the neighborhood you will find a combination of old Victorians, Colonials and newer construction. You will currently see that several buyers love the neighborhood so much that they will tear down a property and rebuild in order to stay within the community. Because there is such a broad spectrum of houses, it is hard to generalize the neighborhood. Most of the houses range from  3-6 bedrooms and from 1500-6000 square feet. Many of the houses have manicured lawns and large backyards. The streets are heavily treed with plenty of friendly neighbors.

What's Going on Nearby the Scarsdale Neighborhood?

Scarsdale residents get access to the excellent Arlington Heights Park District. Click here to check out the park districts website. Residents are close to Lake Arlington, complete with kayaking, sailing and playground. There is an indoor Olympic swimming pool. The park district also offers a several community centers and playgrounds though out Arlington Heights

Locals are walking distance to excellent restaurants, cafes and boutiques. There are a wide variety of restaurants. Those that like pizza can go straight o California Pizza Kitchen. There is an amazing Indian food at Chowpatti Vegetarian Restaurant and you can sit outside and enjoy the sites at Mago Grill and Cantina. Arlington Heights is also home to the huge Japanese superstore, Mitsuwa Market.

For the golfers in the family, there is a driving range and two golf courses. For those that are fitness minded, there is Pulsation Yoga located right in the center of downtown.
