How Do Americans Feel About Buying and Selling a Home?

Fannie Mae just released the results of its monthly national housing survey for April 2013 in a consumer news release.

The responses of the survey reveal an overall positive consumer attitude toward real estate and seem to point toward an increasing optimism among consumers and especially those who may buy or sell a home in the near future.

Here are some of the highlights of the survey:

  • 42% of Americans think now is a good time to sell a home.
  • 69% of Americans think now is a good time to buy a home.
  • 50% of Americans believe home prices will go up in the next 12 months.
  • The expected average increase in home price is 2.9%.
  • Only 5% of Americans expect home prices will fall in the next 12 months.
