Do You Wear Realtor Designation Pins and What Side Do You Place Them

Do You Wear Realtor® Designation Pins and on What Side?

Do You Wear Realtor® Designation Pins and on What Side?I personally think it is just as important to wear Realtor pins as it is to wear your name tag. You want strangers to walk by and recognize your pin and many do since NAR is always promoting us on television. This week I saw 4 different commercials and they proudly display the blue Realtor® logo.

Do You Wear Realtor® Designation Pins and on What Side? There is also a red Realtor® pin for commercial agents.

Also in conversation, sometimes a person will ask what the pin is you are wearing on your lapel. This is a great time to tell them you are a Realtor in the area and this pin represents the educational classes or the real estate organization you belong to.

Where do you put your pins? Is there a side you should use? Yes, clearly it is important to put you pin on the right side so if you shake hands, the person will draw their eyes towards your right arm upward and see the pin. What a great conversation piece.

Do You Wear Realtor® Designation Pins and on What Side?

I have an entire box full of pins I have earned but tend to wear my Women's Council of Realtors® President-Elect pin or my Realtor Pin as they are my favorites.

Some pins you cannot purchase unless you earn the designation from NAR courses like the coveted GRI, Green, ABR, CRS, e-Pro, BPOR, SFR and others. I also took a 3 day course to earn the CDPE designation even though it is not a NAR designation.

Just remember if you do not pay your NAR dues and stay current with your local board, you are not allowed to call  yourself a Realtor® or wear the pins.

The Realtor Store at NAR which has specialty pins for people who are in the military, or have loved ones who retired or have passed on. I proudly wear a Star Realtor pin in memory of my father who served 24 years. I get a lot of people asking me about this pin.

Realtor Star Pins to Wear

I feel that it is extremely important to wear your pins proudly as a Realtor.

What do you think?

Hmm - you reminded me abut the pin. Can't remember wher I got it, and, of course, can't even imagine where it might be. Never thought of wearing it, though :)

Great post Kristin, these little pins are not just great for promoting yourself to the public but they can also be a great reminder to yourself as you glance at them during the day and are continually reminded to live up to the high standards that this membership requires.

I am that one agent that doesn't wear a name tag or designation pins.  I did in the beginning.  They sure have wrecked a lot of clothes! lol

Thanks Kristin for this simple reminder about the professional pins.  We do use them when getting out in the public.

The right side is the best place for name tags and pins but most still put them on the left side.

I would tend to wear a RE/MAX pin before wearing a Realtor pin. In our market, everybody is a Realtor.

Hi Chris,

Most of my nametags have the magnetic backing on them so I just loose the back under my car seat when it gets stuck to some piece of metal. But the little pins usually have the tie pin and I love to wear them myself. Reminds me of the sweat I went through to get it.

Hi Dan,

I just earned my NAR GREEN pin and will be ordering it as soon as my certificate is issued. I took a 3 day course to get it and three tests too.

Hi Kristin -- I'm not a pin-or-name-tag wearer but I know many who strongly believe they have brought them recognition and business.  I know there are others who wear t-shirts, sweat-shirts and get attention when they are out in public too.

Kristin,

Great blog...I never thought of the importance of the location of where one should wear its pin. You sure think of everything.

We should be proud to wear our Realtor logo pin...

Kristin, I don't know where my Realtor® pin is!  So clearly, I don't wear one.  And I haven't worn a name pin since I took off my Easter Airlines uniform for the last time.  But I do still have my wings.

Kristin, I don't always wear a nametag but I always wear either the REALTOR pin and/or one of my designation pins depending on where I go.

Hi Patricia,

Those wings are very important. I love to wear my designation pins. Funny though as I do not have a KW pin?

Hi Silvia,

Me too and I find many people stop and ask me what they are? I am always glad to explain and then ask them questions too. It is a good way to spend the time while waiting in a long line at Macy's, Kohl's, Target or even the grocery store lines.
