Pinterest – a virtual “pin board” where people collect and share their inspirations.
Pinterest is getting to a point where we can’t ignore its presence. Home buyers and sellers use it as a research tool to learn and find inspirations on how to sell/buy a home. We can’t be missing out on this opportunity to get our names out there!
But what should we be pinning, you ask? Let me tell you about how I Pinterest as an example. (Remember, this is just an example.)
Boards
One of the first things you do when you sign up on Pinterest to create some boards. This is like your categories for things you pin.
I organize my boards with different rooms in a house, such as…
- Living Area
- Bedroom
- Office
- Kitchen
- Outdoors
So on and so forth. Then I have some boards for details like…
- Decor
- Lighting
- Hooks
Then I have some boards that don’t directly relate to houses but are inspirational and interesting, such as…
- Eat Local
- Destinations
- Architecture
There are other things that I found very cool but don’t know where to put it. (I found this really cool pen that I wanted to pin.) So things like that, I made a miscellaneous board and called it “The Interesting Internet”. Once I start seeing a certain category of things in that board, I will start a separate board and transfer them there. (Like “Awesome Pens” or something.)
Pinning your business
I do pin about my business on Pinterest, but I keep it minimal. I only have 2 boards that are designated to my work, which are “Listings” and “What We Do”. And I don’t put every single listing photos on there either. You wouldn’t want to bombard fellow pinners with your ads.
You can find me here on Pinterest.
Happy pinning!
