Saturday, May 17th is a very special day in Pennsville Township.  That is the day for honoring our Veterans.  There are many activities and events planned:  a glorious parade, a concert by a Civil War-themed band and two inspirational ceremonies.

Here is the schedule for the day:

10 am - parade that kicks off at the Pennsville Shopping Center & ends at PMHS high school

Immediately following the parade - ceremony to lay wreaths at the monument & honor our Veterans at the monument at PMHS high school

Noon - Live music at Riverview Beach Park by the Fort Delaware Cornet Band  (This group dresses in full, authentic Civil War uniforms, plays period-music & period-instruments.)

1 pm - ceremony to honor women who have served in the Armed Forces at The Pennsville Woman's Club Honor Garden located in Riverview Beach Park (This year's special honoree is 2nd Lieutenant Lucille Pote, US Army. There will be patriotic music, prayers for our Veterans, special remarks & presentations by Freeholder Director Julie Acton, remarks by Captain Katherine Rumberger, US Army as well as a flag ceremony by our local ROTC.)

Please take a moment of your time during this Memorial Day Season to honor those who have served.

“I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States...."
