Shocking….Electrical Inspections
Maybe one of the most important components of a home that needs to be evaluated during a home inspection is the electrical system and its various components.
Per Washington State Standards of practice (Home Inspection SOP )
“The inspection of the electrical system includes the service drop through the main panel; subpanels including feeders; branch circuits, connected devices, and lighting fixtures.”
Some of the specifics in which we are to report; Any circuit breaker panel or subpanel known within the home inspection profession to have safety concerns, the location of any inoperative or missing GFCI and/or AFCI devices when they are recommended by industry standards, any deficiencies of these systems or components.
The electrical system is the one system that if not performed correctly can result in injury, fire or even death.
A leaky roof can be very expensive but the likelihood of it causing a fire or injury is pretty small. Hiring an inspection company that understands and thoroughly evaluates the electrical systems should always be a critical criteria for making that selection.
“If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.”
