Things I Love About Technology: iRobot Roomba Vacuuming Robot

I love this vacuum. /image_store/uploads/agents/cathywolters/files/0189f990e9721363f35bebf32b0c441b601e7ab407.jpgWe used to use it all the time when we lived n our previous home. We would set it to turn on at 10 am and it would vacuum the main part of the house and helped a lot to conrol the dog hair from the one lab that we had then. It was really helpful when we had our home on the market for sale. We just had to sweep up a bit of hair left behind in the evenings.

It works best on hard floors, it tends to get caught up on area rugs and drops a lot of hair on the edges of rugs or mats. In our present home, it kept getting caught up on the step-down to the Florida room and with me working from home, I tended to not use it due to the noise of it going around. When I would decide to use it, the hair was to much for it and it kept turning off and saying that the brushes needed to be cleaned.

Since I got sick a month and a half or so, we have been using it regularly. if it runs everyday, it keeps up with the hair enough that it doesn't turn off from excessive hair, and if we keep the doors to the Florida room closed or just open enough that the dogs can get through, but not the vacuum, it works fine.  It keeps up with the hair of two large dogs so well, that I only have to vacuum once a week, and that is just to get areas it can't fit into.

/image_store/uploads/agents/cathywolters/files/01147e4f7b6f6131a904b5ab97dbd3597e1bcf79d1.jpgThe dogs find it annoying. I turn it on every morning, after they are fed and it makes it's way throughout the house for several hours. They like to /image_store/uploads/agents/cathywolters/files/0100ab9102fe109d00b93d0e1c04bf50cae020b4cd.jpgrelax most of the day, if not eating or demanding attention.  It knocks into them quite a bit.  Sadie hates it when it goes underneath her bed.  Cooper is actually pretty patient with it. He usually ignores it until it hits him three or more times.  When he was a puppy, he learned to turn it off, by hitting the button with his snout, it was really funny, but we did tell him no.  He hasn't done it in a long time.

I recommend this vacuum for anyone who has their home on the market for sale or rent, it really helps to keep the hair, just and even dirt under control. You can just turn it on when you want to run it, or set it to start at certain times. It comes with little towers to help guide it back to the charger, or to keep it away from certain areas.  it docks itself on the charger and all you need to do is dump the part that collects the dirt and clean off the brushes and it is good to go the next day.

I would love to have one of those for doing our tile. Do they by any chance make a model that will damp mop the floors? :)

Cathy, I just saw a video of a cat riding on one of these.  It was pretty funny.

I've been thinking about getting one of these and maybe with your recommendation, I will.
