By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Don Sabinske, Sabinske & Associates Inc. 539MN

Get ready to sharpen your saw.  When a GRI is coupled with a Realtor and is the Broker on your file, the client is in very good position.

What is a GRI?  It stands for Graduate, Realtor Institute.  REALTORS® with the GRI designation have in-depth training in legal and regulatory issues, technology, professional standards, and the sales process.

GRI marks the Real Estate professional who has made the commitment to a high level of professional service by securing a strong educational foundation.

-Pursued a course of study that represents the minimum common body of knowledge for a Real Estate professional.

-Nationally recognized

-Acts with professionalism and committed  to serving clients in the highest ethical manner.

Taken from the Minnesota Association of Realtors.

So when you see the designation of "GRI' you will have an understanding of what it means.

Nice work, Don. I see you've posted everyday since you issued that challenge to yourself. I'm on a roll, too, with my postings. Keep up the great work.

BTW...I have my GRI.

I think it's only other agents who respect the designations - the general public has no idea what they mean.

It's a good designation to have in the tool kit. Good description of why buyers should be impressed when they see it associated with a Real Estate pro.

Hi Don -- while I think it's great you have the GRI designation, I don' t know if the public is aware.

I got GRI as soon as I got my license.

Yet, I don't think any of my clients ever asked me what those letters after my name mean. Now I want to get an international designation.

How does the GRI commit professionals to "serving clients in the highest ethical manner"? Is there a special ethics panel/ watchdog group?

Of the designations, the GRI does seem to command the most respect.

Thanks for the comment, Doug.  I agree...who knows if some people ever serve the client in the highest ethical manner?
