The results are in and Bahia Honda State Park’s beach has been named amongst the top 25 beaches to visit in America for 2014 by TripAdvisor. The annual Traveler’s Choice Beaches award winners were announced in April, with rankings based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews posted on TripAdvisor during a twelve month period. The Lower Florida Keys were put in the spotlight with Bahia Honda State Park coming at number 17. The beach area is part of the 524 acre state park located on Bahia Key between markers 36 and 37.
It is easy to see why Bahia Honda beach area made the list. As a peaceful getaway with plenty of camping and recreation areas and activities amongst pristine beaches, the area has long been a popular place for residents and visitors alike. Water activities include snorkeling and deep near-shore waters for swimmers and other watersports. There are also nature trails for hiking and the Sand and Sea Nature Center and marina. Campers can enjoy either tent camping or cabins for rent. Bahia State Park offers a wide variety of fun in the sun on the Keys for everyone.
Being awarded one of America’s Choice Beaches by TripAdivsor reviewers says a lot, as the TripAdvisor websites have become the largest travel community in the world posting on the web. With operations in 36 countries and a reach of more than 260 million unique monthly visitors in 2013, a fair word from TripAdvisor is sure to help boost tourist dollars to an area. When it came to the Choice Beaches awards, Florida ranked quite well overall with 10 of the 25 winners within the state.
