For those not from Hawaii:

Fee Simple: Is the tradidtional way you buy property, you buy the land and the improvements.

Leasehold:  You buy the improvements and lease the land.  Usually leases are set up for many years.

Randy, I used to live in the Pearl 1 with a "Malka" view, more of a H1 view on the 6th floor, forget now what my room mate sold it for back in the 80s..  but my half of the rent then was 350.00 a month... can you hear me whistle? (It used to cost me 14.00 to fill up my little Honda Civic back then too)

George - You can do it with a negative amortization loan :)

Lysa - $350/month that should cover the maintanence fee, maybe.

George - There are many loan officers promoting such ideas.  Of course I use none of them.
