The Star Drive In...Wholesome Fun for the Whole Family Montrose CO. The owners of The Star Drive In cater to good, family fun. They prefer to show movies with a rating no worse than PG 13, so everyone in the family can enjoy watching a show under our beautiful Colorado night sky. This is family fun for all generations of the family.

The Star is still owned by the original family that built the Drive In. Ground was broke in 1949, and the theater opened in 1950. It's owned by the DeVries Family. The Star can accommodate 360 cars. If you really want to take a trip down memory lane, you can use the old traditional metal car speakers, but the theater also offers crystal clear FM sound.
While there have been advances in sound and viewing, some things never change. The Star is known for it's concessions. The french fries are hand cut and cooked right there and have been since the theater opened. The potatoes come from the DeVries family farm. It doesn't get any better, or fresher, than that. The theater is also known for it's great burger. I've heard rumors that some people come just for the food.
The Star has a special event coming up. Mark you calendar for June 7th, 2014, the theater is hosting it's Annual Back to the 60s Night.
Starting May 23rd, The Star will be open every night of the week. They will be playing double features all week. This is the only drive in Theater in Montrose, and it's one of only about 370 drive in theaters left in this country.
The Star Drive In has a website. You can also reach them the old fashioned way by calling 970-249-6170.
