The mortgage crunch has effected mostly California, Arizona, Nevada, New York, & Florida. If you can still qualify for a good "old fashioned" loan (meaning decent credit and 5 - 20% down), Texas is one of the best markets in the country right now. Here at Cedar Creek lake, our waterfront is still appreciating at 5-6% a year! So NOW is the right time to buy that vacation or retirement (or investment) home while the rates are still very low....they won't stay that way forever!
