The worst real estate buyer ever!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Richard Weisser Realty

The worst real estate buyer ever by Richard WeisserI once worked for a buyer that took a very blasé attitude towards the fundamentals of buying a home.

This buyer never spent countless hours researching neighborhoods, economics or compared features side by side.

This buyer did not look at house after house and meticulously dissect each facet of the purchase worthiness of a property.

As a matter of fact, the last house he purchased he bought sight unseen, without so much as a photograph! He lived there for fifteen years until he purchased his current home.

At least this time he spent ten minutes inside the house before making his offer. He did not notice that there were no light fixtures or garage door openers, and these items would have to be installed after closing.

That was twelve years ago and I am happy to say that this cavalier buyer is still quite satisfied with his purchase.

Some people never agonize over a purchase. There are those out there that subscribe to the tenet of “less is better!”

The worst real estate buyer ever?

Yeah, it’s me!

Happy to say that when we moved to Destin my wife bought the home we live with me never seeing it. Here 14 years now. Think it worked out.

Oh, I don't know, Richard.  I think you would probably be a pretty reasonable buyer client!

Richard, I wish that I was that easily satisfied, I like what I like and am a little fussy about it.

HAHA, Donald and I have been picking out house plans for our next house for about 5 years now.  I know we'll end up hiring someone to draft exactly what we want.  I didn't spend much time thinking of design the last time and there are so many things I wish were different.  Of course we plan for the next house to be the aging in place last house.

I have to admit that I'm about the same way.  I looked for half a day when I bought my home in Bethesda.

Then I purchased my present home site while previewing for a buyer.

Somehow, like your buyer/client, things work out.

I suspect that I adjust to the homes.

Richard I've had many buyers like this one.  They simply don't make it such a momumental decision but rather take it all in stride. They walk and and say - I love it. And honestly that's what I did with our current home and we've been loving it for 16+ years warts and all!!

I wish more buyers were like you. Unfortunately, it seems that the home buying process has gotten much more complicated.

Totally get it, Richard.  Even when we built a home, neither I or my wife got too demanding.  We loved the house ...

Richard, I'm just like you.  Unfortunately my wife is just the opposite.  One reason I NEVER go shopping with her.

I wish there were more buyers like that. I've worked with a few that could the house was going to need a new porch at some point, and some other repairs, but it wasn't an issue. The house and location would work for them, and they wanted it.

When I buy homes for myself, I do not waste time looking at something that I probably won't want...I am not a shopper...I don't even go to malls.

the house I live in now, was one of two houses we looked at.

the house I lived in before was one of three we looked at...

Happy in both.

I once sold a $2Million dollar home to buyer sight unseen.

I think the more people look the more confused they get.
