Over the past number of years Memorial Day has become a time for barbeques, shopping and a day off of work for many. It is thought about as the beginning of the summer season for many and Labor Day is considered the end of the summer season.
Somewhere as a nation we have lost the meaning of Memorial Day which is celebrated on the 4th Monday of May. It is a day to remember and Honor those Armed Service Men and Women that died while on duty for our country. (not to be confused with Veterans Day which honors all Service Men and Women both deceased and alive).
Throughout our existance our service men and women have fought and given their lives so we can live, breath and speak with the freedom to say what we want.
One way I am able to pay it forward with my clients is I sent out a Memorial Day Greeting where I asked my clients to send back to me what the attachment I sent out said and with that I would donate $ 100.00 for the first three people in their honor to a non-profit charity of their choice. The response was amazing with the first three people asking for donations for Wounded Warriors, the VETTIX.ORG which gives tickets to service men and women for their families to various events and places. Check it out by clicking on the link above. I'm still waiting for the third client to tell me where she wants her donation to go.
We are so lucky to live here and be able to celebrate with our family and friends. Let's remember and honor those that gave the ultimate sacrifice and pay it forward to someone else. What will you be doing this Memorial Day Weekend to make a difference?
