Easy ways to add curb appeal to your home!

Curb Appeal is a phrase that gets tossed around a lot in the real estate community. But the truth is, that increasing your home's curb appeal can make a huge difference in how quickly your home sells and how much a buyer may be willing to pay to purchase your home. Many people have the misconception that increasing their home's curb appeal is a costly eneaver, but that doesn't have to be the case. Below are some tips that will help you increase your home's curb appeal.

    • Ensure that the yard and landscaping is neat, tidy, and well-maintained.

  • Trim back any plants that have flowered and are now past their prime, and replace them with seasonal plants for some color. Re-edge and add mulch to existing beds.

    • Control growth of large trees around the home and property. Also, clear any debris from under the trees.

    • Pay close attention to the doors and windows. A fresh coat of stain or paint and some new hardware can do wonders to freshen up your home. Consider adding a few seasonal decorations like a wreath or potted plants near the door.
    • Ensure that any stairs are free of debris, scratches, chips, moss or signs of wear. Repair any broken or damaged handrails (this one is a safety issue too!)

    • Adding some fresh house numbers can be inexpensive, and makes your homes easy to identify.

    • Pressure wash the exterior of your home and ensure the gutters and roof are clean. If you aren't comfortable doing this yourself, consider hiring a professional to take care of this for you.

    • Make sure that the driveway and any walkways to and around the home are clear of debris.

    • Upgrade lighting by doors and pathways. This increases the safety around your house and also helps your home stand out.

    • A new Welcome Mat at the door is a great way to add some color and welcome visitors into your home.
    • Upgrade your mailbox. This is a simple fix that can really update the front of your house.

    • Ensure that windows and screens are clean and well-maintained. Shutters and screens should be in top shape.

    • Consider the views from decks and various rooms around your home, and where possible, improve those views.

  • Spruce up your deck, porch or patio and show what an inviting space it can be to potential buyers.
