I Think CRAIG(list) is Reading MY BLOG

By
Property Manager with Gibson Management Group, Ltd.

One of the things Iabout Craigslist for posting my rental properties is that they LISTEN TO THEIR USERS.....OH!  I don't think they are actually listening to ME; however, I suspect that through their various forums, posting options and FAQ, they are getting the word that rental prospects who use their site would like to know when a rental property is AVAILABLE.

So Slap-Me-On-The-Head and call me CRAZY......Craig(list) is now offering 2 of the 4 important questions I ask in response to initial rental prospect inquiries....

While buyers may make their move-in date a condition of their purchase offer, landlords and property managers may well be dealing with occupied properties with fixed-term leases or lease-end dates that are KNOWN at the time that their internet posting is made.

This is a VERY IMPORTANT DATE as we do not want to deal with rental prospects who do not need a rental home AS SOON AS OUR RENTAL PROPERTY IS AVAILABLE  and loose $$$$ nor do we want to ask prospects to stay elsewhere TEMPORARILY until our property becomes available.

Having an AVAILABLE date on the listing is a GREAT Feature, Craig(list)....and thanks for listening.

That does sound like a very good change that Craigslist made.  I haven't used that site in years, but I can see the value if you have rentals.

Hi Wallace, Craigslist is my go-to way of advertising, I buy & sell often. I look at it as a form of recycling! It is nice to know that Craigslist includes the available move in date now for rentals , that helps tremendously :)

Wallace, I can't remember how many rental clients have wanted to rent one of my properties two months from now. They're always surprised when I tell them it's ready now, and I need to rent it now. 8-)
