John Chesnut, Sr. Park is full of opportunities for enjoying the outdoor life. The park is located on the southeastern edge of Lake Tarpon, off East Lake Road. This five mile long lake is only about one mile wide with a depth of 8-12 feet.
The 255 acre park offers 13 picnic shelters with grills (these can be reserved online), two playgrounds, horseshoe pits, softball field, volleyball area, water fountains, restrooms, dog park and a boat ramp (fees apply) plus three nature trails. A canoe trail within the park is a landlocked waterway connected to an interior lake.
The park is home to various wildlife including raccoons, alligators, various waterfowl, hawks, vultures, tortoises/turtles, deer to mention a few which you might be fortunate enough to come across.
