UP A TREE : A DRONE’S PLACE IN REAL ESTATE

By
Real Estate Agent with Liv Sotheby's International Realty

Love ‘em or Hate ‘em, Drone’s are all over the news and are becoming a huge part of our lives. Whether it be for personal safety and security, surveillance boarding on personal privacy infringement, pizza delivery or partnering up with major online retailer, Amazon to take the goods delivery model to the next level, drone’s are being used in all facets of life.

So how do drone’s fit into HUGE industry of real estate with a product that would seem to be one of maybe the only items that a drone can’t lift and carry?

I’ll give you one big hint….

It takes more than a camera on a really really long pole to get a spectacular view of properties with sprawling floor plans, multiple buildings and acres and acres of land like this Belle Maison in Conifer, Colorado.

Well, with any new technology, it has its drawbacks. As you may have guessed, our beautiful, tall, evergreen trees presented quite the hazard for this little drone.

Good thing for my multi-faceted, camera woman being able to retrieve the drone and save the day!

The use of drone’s to capture the entire land and essence of a luxury a home is just another reason Fuller Sotheby’s International Realty is more than just a sign in your yard and gives potential buyers the full experience of your home.

Caroline, those drones do present some amazing pictures to showcase those sprawling listings that a street view does not capture.  Did you see any cats trapped up the tree as well?

LOL, no we did not, but if we had, we could have rescued it! Even with this little mishap the pictures are unbeatable!

Caroline, I am still waiting for the FAA to lighten up a little on the use of drones for real estate photography. It is a great expense and every time one of these little beasts encroaches on aircraft airspace, our buddies in Congress try to further restrict their use. As a private pilot, it is no laughing matter when you consider the threat these machines can be in the hands of a nut job, but there is no denying the value they hold for our industry.

Caroline, I can relate to the "Drone Up A Tree" experience.  As I was teaching our daughter how to fly one of our entry level drones she landed it into a river.  It may be hard to believe but we recovered it and within a couple of hours it was as good as new.

Hi Sam - I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that expereinced a hazzard with a drone! Glad to hear you got it back intact!
