Gaithersburg Memorial Day Observance, Friday, May 30th
The official Memorial Day has passed but Gaithersburg continues to honor those who have served our country. The following notice was distributed by the City of Gaithersburg in regard to the ceremony that will take place this Friday, May 30, 2014. Please try to attend and please support the VFW Adopt-A-Unit program.
Join the Mayor and City Council, City staff and honored guests in a tribute to Gaithersburg's sons and daughters who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country during a Memorial Day Observance on Friday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at Christman Park.
The patriotic ceremony will include words and music to commemorate the occasion and a solemn wreath-laying ceremony. Joining the observance will be guest speaker Lieutenant General James Roudebush, USAF (Retired). At the event guests will be invited to fill out a card and provide a 4x6 photograph for our Book of Tribute, honoring friends and family members who serve. Donations will also be accepted in support of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Adopt-A-Unit program, sending support and hopes for a safe return to those deployed overseas.
