Gaithersburg Water Safety Day, Friday, May 30th

The community swimming pools are now open in the area and it is a good time for every family to give special attention to water safety. Every family member should be able to swim for their own protection and for the protection of others.

This is the notice distributed by the City of Gaithersburg to promote Water Safety Day.

The City of Gaithersburg joins Montgomery County and the City of Rockville to host Water Safety Day on Friday, May 30 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Gaithersburg Water Park. The free event will include information stations that provide resources on a variety of topics, including swim level testing, the importance of personal flotation devices, how to safely reach and assist someone struggling in the water, and the importance of sunscreen to prevent serious skin damage. Anyone attending Water Safety Day who visits the various information booths is welcome to stay and enjoy a free swim. Read more here.

Hi Roy, what a good idea for a special day to remember water safety. Since I live on a huge Lake we hear about horrible incidents that happen too often. Let us educate so we can be safe.

Roy, water safety is high on my priority list, as I lost a grandfather in a boating accident. Thanks, as always, for sharing this valuable information and your stunning photographs!

Good Morning Roy: I concur with you. That water safety should not be taken lightly. Two years ago, a young boy drowned in Manchester public pool as nobody was watching to keep the kids safe. Very unfortunate.
