When I entered this Rainbow Landing home at 107 Star Chase Lane in Madison Alabama in our Boards weekly Caravan I thought it had a great chance of winning Home Of The Week in Madison.  Of Course, I didn't know what houses it would be compared to until the day of the Caravan, but still I felt it would place well, and it did!

The process of being selected Home Of The Week begins by placing a listing that you want in the Caravan on a waiting list and in this case the wait was three weeks.  Nine agents had entered a listing each to be judged by the other agents.  We all traveled in a group from home to home and scored each listing based on 5 categories;  price, exterior, interior, condition, sale-ability.   After touring each home all agents met back at the sponsors home to tally votes and announce the winner.  While it wasn't a landslide win over our nearest competitor, my clients listing did win by several points with a good margin separating the other homes on the caravan.

There are a few benefits of winning Home Of The Week;  The winning home will be featured in the Friday or Sunday edition of the local newspaper, the winning home gets a special sign in the yard featuring it as a Home Of The Week Winner, a special certificate stating the same for interior display when potential buyers tour the home, the home is also featured prominently on our Boards web page and of course I'll blog about my own listing winners.

Some agents consider winning the Home Of The Week a "Kiss of Death" for various reasons, I look at it as another way to expose your clients home and gain attention.  For "Sellers"; Caravan is another tool in your agents toolbox and for buyers; you might want to take a look at homes that local Realtors think are great deals!  However...and there's always a "however/but"...bottom line is that Realtors do not determine what necessarily a good buy or value is;  Buyers decide!
