As Zeus from Olympus gazed upon
The feats of heroes, gods and man,
So too, from my lofty perch I spy
On Nature’s gifts and passers-by!

In Summer in the South, porches are generally reserved for the cooler early mornings and later in the evening.
In the early hours, the neighborhood is primarily shared with squirrels, hares, and occasional passing geese. This morning I was blessed to see two juvenile pileated woodpeckers literally “earning their wings!
In the evening, one is more likely to see neighbors scurrying about doing yard chores or engaged in various outdoor recreational activities.
And although not hidden from view, the porch-sitter is generally ignored as any other fixture of the environment. And so everyone goes about their business without so much as a hint of being exposed to observation. It’s the earliest form of reality entertainment!
And there are NO commercials!
