Indian Beach / Sapphire Shores is a terrific neighborhood within the city of Sarasota. The recent settlement is understood to have began when Westerners moved into the area in 1891. The neighborhood has long since developed and continues to evolve. It is currently made up of many smaller subdivisions that are collectively called, The Indian Beach - Sapphire Shores Neighborhood.
Neighbors also refer to the area as The Museum Area, The Ringling Area, The College Area, The North Trail and IBSS. Living here is such a pleasure because it is close to all the best things Sarasota has to offer.
Sitting on the center of the Suncoast, just south of Tampa Bay and the Manatee County line, you'll find Indian Beach / Sapphire Shores. It's located just North of downtown Sarasota, South of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (known as SRQ), West of the Tamiami Trail and it sits on the edge of Sarasota Bay.

Indian Beach Sapphire Shores neighborhood is a few minutes by car to downtown Sarasota, just 7 minutes to St Armands Circle and Lido Key Beach, and about 15 minutes from world famous Siesta Key Beach. However you need not leave the neighborhood for entertainment and fun on the water.
What is There to Do?
Sarasota Jungle Gardens is in the center of the neighborhood and on the north end of the community you will find the Asolo Repertory Theater, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, The Circus Museum, and Ca' d'Zan the former home of Ringling Circus owners John and Mabel Ringling. You can also have a wonderful adventure at Marietta Museum of Art and Whimsy!
Best of all are the free bay front parks and access points that dot the shores of Sarasota Bay. There are also bike trails and community events such as Art fairs and picnics throughout the year. You can wade in or fish from the shore of Sarasota Bay, or launch a kayak or canoe. The annual Sarasota Half Marathon begins and ends in the neighborhood too.
