I was reading an article (AP) in the Atlanta Journal Constitution by Martin Crutsinger titled "Home sales get welcome boost". Very interesting reading! The most positive paragraph reads,
"The National Association of Realtors said that sales of existing homes rose by 2.9 percent in February to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.03 million units. It was the biggest increase in a year and caught economists by surprise. They had been expecting a small decline."
It appears to me that all the economists who analysis this ever changing, complex world economy in which we live often overlook the human factor. While numbers do not lie, they rarely give the whole picture.
Let's face it, people move from personal and professional reasons. Individuals we encounter are the "trees" in metaphor. Transactions are less than they were in the recent past, but individuals are still utilizing real estate professionals. I am busier now than I have ever been. I am working harder now than I had too in previous years. But I am not complaining.
NO! Why? Because I am building stronger relationships than I did when eager customers were available. Often those transactions would take a matter of weeks. Mortgage companies now require a lot more than simply breathing to qualify buyers. Clients homes will not sell just because they are "priced right". This is where the pavement meets the road. This is where we stop being people who simply "fill in the blanks' on contracts and actually shout from the roof tops "I am a REALTOR!" Then show in word, thought, deed why we are integral in making positive transactions happen.

While I understand its content, I am focusing on what I can control- ME! I am building and tending a "forest" of healthy "trees" that will sustain me no matter what the economy brings.
