1. Paint- Yes you have heard millions of times. But a coat of paint including your ceiling can do a magic to your home. It adds freshens to brightness to your home.
2. Flooring- Get that dirty carpets either cleaned or budget to replace them. If you have beaten up hardwood flooring or peeling vinyl consider replacing it also. You have many choices now from engineered hardwood to peel and stick tiles.Don't limit updating the flooring to main level, consider bedrooms and baths.
3. Appliances- Kitchen is considered heart of the house. Pump some money. With 4th of July or Labor day sales many of the home improvement stores may have large sales. Start budgeting and planning. I recommend my home sellers replace now so you can enjoy the money you are spending on updating that appliance.
4. Curb Appeal- If you are planning to be on the market in spring through fall make sure you plan the curb appeal. Many times buyers loose their interest moment they pull infront of the home. Get fresh mulch, prune trees and shrubs, plants some bulbs and add planters with colorful flowers.
5. Declutter- Do you still have your inherit sofa from apartment or the TV from 80s. Well walk room by room and do a clean up. Donate things you don't need to move with. This one thing itself will add value and help your home look clean and fresh.
These basic updates will help any Northern Virginia home sellers in Fairfax or Loudoun county to get their home ready for any real estate market.
