In Tennessee, vehicles must be tested annually for emissions. When you receive your license plate renewal form each year, you will need to take that to the local vehicle emissions testing center.
There is a $10 fee paid by cash, Visa or Mastercard. Once your car has passed this test, you will be able to renew your license plates.
Previously, there was one location in Williamson County at 1005 Merylinger Court in Franklin. However, a new emissions testing center opened in Brentwood on Monday morning.
The photo to the right is the line that I experienced yesterday while waiting at the Franklin location to get my annual test. It took me about 30 minutes until I finally got my car tested.
The attendent told me that 400 cars had already been through the center on Merylinger by 1 p.m. while only 24 cars had gone through the new center located at 273 Wilson Pike Circle in Brentwood.
My husband, Tom, went to the new location in Brentwood today and there wasn't even a wait. He was able to drive right up and get his car tested in minutes. Hopefully once the word gets out about this new emissions testing center, it will ease some of the wait time at the Franklin location.
What a relief. Finally, a new emissions testing center opens in Brentwood TN.
