Montrose Garden Tour...Things to do in Montrose, CO. The tour is Saturday, June 14th, 2014. The tour includes five private gardens and the Montrose Botanic Gardens.
The tour starts at 9AM at the Botanic Gardens next to the Montrose Pavilion. It runs until about 2PM. Each garden will have something unique and different. Learn about and see how xeriscaping works. This is becoming a popular landscaping type in our high desert area of Western Colorado. Visit a country cottage garden and take in many different garden designs that are a treat to the eyes and the nose. There will be live music and refreshments served throughout the day. Local artist will also be around painting the sights and the flora...all plein air style.
The tour is a benefit for the Montrose Botanic Society. Tickets are $12 and $10 for a member of the Botanic Gardens. You can become a member the day of the tour.
The Montrose Botanic Gardens is open to the public and it's free. The garden is a living demonstration of what grows well in our somewhat challenging Western Colorado environment. It's next to the Montrose Pavilion. To enter...just open the deer gate and walk right in. The scope of the gardens and the variety of plants that can be grown in this area will amaze you. The Botanical Society also gives talks, demonstrations and hosts other local gardening events like the Montrose Garden Tour.
