What's in my Dream Home

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Success Realty

This is an interesting concept and the longer I'm in real estate and the longer I represent builders and see new homes the longer my wish list for a new home becomes.

Aside from the look and feel of new everybody has things they have loved about homes they've lived in as well as the things they've hated.  I would suspect the dislike list is as long as the like list...and the aboslutely love it wouldn't want to live without it list is a bit shorter.

I have at least three I would 100% for sure include in any new home I built for myself.

First I'd include slide out spice racks along the cooktop.  I love those and if they are built to look like parts of the cabinet (so they're basically hidden when closed ) even better.

Next is something I've only seen once.  The laundry room was through the wall from the closet in the master bedroom - and there was a pass through (a rambler version of a laundry chute I guess) from the master closet to the laundry.  That way the laundry - dirty and clean - all stays in the bedroom/laundry room.  Neat way to keep it tidy (at least for the laundry generated in the master.

Finally is something I don't think I've ever seen.  I want a light switch for my master bedroom near a nightstand next to the bed.  In an empty room a light switch near the middle of the wall, and about 24 inches from the floor, would look ridiculous. In practicality and real live it would be so convenient.  I guess I'm not much of a lamp guy and that switch would be perfect for me.

Otherwise the smell of new carpet and paint. Cabinets that have never had anybody else's dishes in them. Showers that have never had anybody else in them.  Etc. etc...New homes are awesome!!

I'm with you on the light switch located near a bed - makes perfect sense to me. And yes, I too love new homes without anybody elses germs. Lol.

Hey Debb - I have no idea why I've never seen that light switch, but when I build my house...it'll be there!!
