Get Fit 2008 - Count Me In!

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

Thanks Derek for starting this group!  http://activerain.com/groups/getfit2008

Like most of you, I too have been struggling with weight-loss, getting fit and trim and just overall better health.  Yesterday was my 47th Birthday and this group effort could not have come at a better time.  I look forward to reading everyone's success stories and what works best for them.  Sharing great food/snack and exercise tips will be beneficial as well.

Good-Luck to everyone in the group, I wish us all much healthy success!

Enjoy Your Blessings! Tina

Congratulations on your weight loss Chuck!

I lost almost 25 pounds back in 2006 and somehow, almost exactly 2 years later, I have "miraculously" put it all right back on.  Yeah, I know..."miraculously" my a$$!  It was all about my food choices and lack of (actually none at all) exercise.  Nothing really "miraculous" about that.

Anyway, here I go again, better luck and progress this time!

Thanks Lindsey,

I am with you there-"IT MUST BE DONE!".   I also need to lose 40-60, a minimum of 50 pounds.  I am ready, just need motivation.  I purchased a new pair of "New Balance" Sneakers two weeks ago, I uncluttered, Lysol cleaned and plugged in my Treadmill last week, needed to 1st make sure the motor was still running after sitting inactive for the last year.  Actually got in a good 1.5 miles this morning. ( My goal is to try for at least 2 miles in AM and 2 in PM to start.) I will really try to pay attention to what I eat, I'm not too good with following diets but do very well with making healthier food choices.

Good-Luck to you as well!

Wow! I'm ashamed to post how short a distance I do on my treadmill- I'm just aiming to do it REGULARLY. Good luck to us all. Encouragement really helps.

You are absolutely right Leslie,

Encouragement and motivation really does help.  Try not to get discouraged by your stamina, or lack of it in the beginning, once you develop a regular routine - "regular" being the key word here, the distance you complete will get longer and longer each week.  I remember when I 1st started walking out on the track field, the neighborhood Seniors would walk laps around and past me, (actually they still do).  Now you want to talk about being ashamed, that is it for me.  I just keep telling myself - "I want to be just like them when I grow-up to be 70+ years of age.  Active Seniors are truly motivating to me.

Good-Luck to you Leslie.

Hi Derek, Thanks for checking up on me....

Nothing too earth shattering to report.  Food wise - I'm doing ok, always could be better so everyday I try to do a little better than the day before.  Motivation to work out is still a major struggle for me but with each new day comes another opportunity for success so I'm in this fight for however long it takes.

It is so great to have this group support.  I hope you are doing well.  Tina

I have been slacking in my daily chores ... in-fact, this is my first day on ActiveRain in nearly a week!  I have been so busy with work, it is easy to lose track.  I need to change that today!

I am struggling every year about this time, since I seem to be surrounded with food, invitations to dinner, parties, etc.  I can only much on so many celery sticks being good, then the aroma just draws me in....best of luck to you in 2008 and wishing you even better success in 2009.  - Carla
