10 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Becoming a Homeowner - Roberta Kayne Remax1

10 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Becoming a Homeowner - Owning a home is typically a part of everyone’s dream.  Regardless of if your dreams are filled with white picket fences and blue shutters, it’s important to consider whether or not you are ready for home ownership.  Take a look at the following questions that could lead to your answer.

  1. Why Do You Want A Home? You need to question why you are buying a house.  Are you doing so because it’s part of your dream or because you are ready for it?  Homeownership is a full-time job.  Can you handle it?
  2. Can You Afford It? Houses are expensive, end of story.  Do you have the finances to pay for the bricks and mortar?  Can you really afford the payments?
  3. Can You Afford The Down PaymentThis is crucial.  If you cannot comfortably afford a down payment, you probably cannot afford a house.  Sure, you can make house payments as you go, but the down payment is the first step.
  4. Are My Finances Stable Enough? Were you just promoted at work?  How does your job stability look?  How does your spouse’s look?  Keep all of this in mind.  Yes, jobs are subject to change, but the more stable your job appears, the more stable it probably is.
  5. Can You Deal With the Mundane? Home ownership means many things like cleaning, painting, maintenance, and general upkeep.  Are you ready for that level of commitment?
  6. Can You Pay For the Mundane? Do you have enough money for appliances or equipment needed to keep your house in order?  The mundane tasks of your house cost money as well as time.
  7. How Long Do You Want to Live in the House? If you are not looking to stay for long, just skip moving in.  Make sure that you are planning to settle for a bit.  If not, don’t bother with owning a home.
  8. Have You Properly Considered NeighborhoodsA house is not a home unless it is in a safe location filled with opportunities for you, your spouse, and your family.  Be sure to shop around.  There’s a reason they say, “Location, location, location.”
  9. What Are You Goals in Five Years? Ten Years? How does home ownership fit into your long term goals?  Does it fit the direction you want to grow?  Does it logically make sense to buy a home?
  10. What Kinds of Loans Do You Qualify For? This is a lot like applying for a credit card.  Pay attention to your financial history to keep track of what loans you can apply for.

Before becoming a homeowner, you need to ask yourself these questions to determine whether or not it is for you.  You may end up discovering something and saving yourself a lot of grief and money in the long run. I totally agree these are essential questions that people must ask themselves and answer truthfully before becoming a homeowner. The "true" answers can save a lot of aggravation down the road.  Great post.  SUGGESTED!

Thanks for sharing, great blog. Property investments are not that easy , if we are comfirtable with down payments , monthly EMI's then only we can go for it. Sometimes investors will give good deals like 30% off on villas in ECR , if you get good deals then go for it.
