VASLAV NIJINSKY, THE GREATEST MALE DANCER OF THE WESTERN WORLD

VASLAV NIJINSKY, THE GREATEST MALE DANCER OF THE WESTERN WORLD

Yes Jane, do look up Nijinsky-he danced the greatest ballets with the Ballet Russe!
Good morning Joanna. You always share such beauty. You have such a great eye.
You betcha Michael-I loved seeing those flowers on his tomb and of course, the toe shoes! Thank you for stopping by.
Hi Joanna, you have such an eye. As Alexandra pointed out earliner on my post today, without composition and such, a camera is pretty useless. You definitely are captain of the "camera" ship.
You are way too kind. But I do agree that composition is everything and that the camera is only a tool to capture what we see with the naked eye. And yes, we all see things differently girlfriend. Have a wonderful daddy day weekend Debb.
And now the dancer rests.... What an amazing monument, so fitting for a man who made a name for himself. I would bet there wasn't a day in his life when his feet did not ache. He gave so much of his body for the benefit of entertainment.
Joanna, you have just enlightened me....there is dance way back in my history for generations, and yet, I had never heard of this dancer of Polish descent. I googled him. What an interesting career, and yet his life took a terrible turn later. Here was a link I found of what little video could be ascertained.

Thank you!
Gayle, I know there is dance in your blood-you have mentioned Paul Taylor so I know you are in the know. Yes, Nijinsky is the Nureyev and Barishnykov of his day and perhaps even more of a great because he did not have other dancers' interpretations to draw on-and this tombstone is absolutely stunning of him as the clown, Petrouchka!
Very unique Joanna, it makes you think about all the history and his past life. Have a great week.
Thanks for sharing your photograph. That could be the subject for several blogs.
Hi Debbie, thank you for stopping by. And yes, cemetaries are filled with both history and great art.
Yes Roy, so many of the things we write about could be a series or a book!
Good morning Joanna,
OMG..you always find the most interesting things to photograph..I love the secrets and great art that are hidden in cemeteries!
Totally-and every piece is unique with a special life story behind (underneath) it!
What a beautiful photo Joanna, I cannot wait to go back to Paris someday. I would love to spend a few hours in this cemetery in Montmartre and I'll definitely be learning more about Vaslav Nijinsky. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Debbie, thank you so much for looking at this and I get the feeling that you really would love this cemetery-there is so much to see.
