Troubles in life come when we believe the myth that the Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
Spoiler Alert... Shameless Plug... join me at my "Live with Jon" appearances coming to your town! The Keeping it Real Tour Jon
Today I think of Robert Fulghum, you probably know him best as author of that cool classic book "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" of course if you got to know Robert you would see he is a man with many talents from music to painting... Robert put it out there in this way: "The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. No, not at all. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you are."
So how does this apply ... I just read a blog here on Rain today that was speaking about motivating a customer to move forward with a purchase yet they never found the "perfect home" I enjoyed the blog and the idea of comprise and I think using the grass is always greener is a great analogy for you to use with your client.
But it goes so much deeper than that...and here is todays "REALLY" moment... as you can see by my title my real point I am driving home is that the main thrust of our life is to make the most of what we have. That is why some of the most content people in the world are the Amazon's Piraha People who daily face incredible difficulties but enjoy life and don't dwell in the past or worry about the future.
So the next time you cant get the key out of the lockbox, your client cancels her Sunday visit to see houses after you made 5 appointments and picked up 3 sets of keys, or they gave you the wrong coffee at Starbucks...just take a deep breath and move on!
Make it a J day and spread my blog only if I put a smile on your face!
