The time is here to find out what happened in the real estate market in New Castle County, Delaware in May, 2014.
As you can see,we have about 5% more listings than we did the same time last year, however, closed sales are down about 8%. More good news is that our sales prices are up almost 7% over last year. The average days on the market are down 6% from 2013.
Our inventory of single family detached homes is up a little over 2% for 2014 as a whole over 2013. I am starting to hear from more people about listing their homes, however some of them are only considering listing because of unfavorable conditions with their job or personal situations such as death of a spouse.
So we definitely don't want to see people forced into selling, but this has always been a part of our market. We would much rather see people moving up to larger houses!
