Scratching my head------ What just happened?

The real question might be "What can I learn from this"?   All to often we are focused on the Buyer and whether they are ready today.

I have been on the other side of this twice recently. A month ago I took my trade in car to the next town over (65 miles one way) to show them what I had and preview some options for my wife. When they found out the final decision was hers, they gave me the bums rush. We bought her new car elsewhere the next week.

Yesterday I went to a large gun store to preview options should I get a "carry" permit. Seeing I wasn't ready to buy then, they were not ready to answer questions. Now I know where I WON"T be spending my money.

How often have we sent the same message to Buyers that were close, but not today? Your Thoughts?

Great point Rob!  Every interaction is a potential sale...maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but eventually!  That is why we should always strive to create Raving Fans at every turn!  (PS - Go Blue!)

I'd never sell a damn thing if I treated people that way Rob.  I treat them all the same whether they are buying today, next week, next month or next year.  I just discourage them from picking out fabrics or making a final decision on anything because frames and fabrics can be discontinued by the time they are ready to buy.

Rob - Amazing about the car. As a woman, I've found that they don't want to talk to me even if it is my decision. They assume my husband will have the final word.

Last time I bought a car I shopped until I found a dealer who wanted to talk to ME.

Hi Rob, We all have to be careful not to send that message, because some buyers are sincere about using us to sell their home or buy a new one, but we have to be patient and go with their timing. We have written off buyers, then out of the blue, they called an ended up buying a home through us.

Rob - Yes, that has happened to me before. And no, they did not get my business.
