If you walked into my office today, aside from the typical mess, you would find stacks of magazines, glue sticks, poster-board, scrap-booking paper and more. And no, we aren't preparing for a scrap-booking party, although that could be fun. At Real Living we are preparing for a series of workshops for our agents focused on finding the real you and defining it visually.
Brand boards - as they are called in the marketing world - are a visual representation of a company's brand. It's how advertising agencies help their clients dileniate their brand promise and the visual cues they think embody their culture. Nike's brand board would have, of course, the swoosh, shots of famous athletes, the company's first shoe, and its latest. Coke would have its logo, the colors red and white, the imagery from its advertising and more.
That's not what we are talking about in the vision board workshops. For these, we are talking about personal branding. It's the first step in putting the real you in your business. Defining you passions and then representing them visually. Naming your goals and then cutting a reminder out of a magazine (see mine for beach house dream). It's your personality, your dreams, your favorite people and things. This is also where your personal brochure or web presence emerges. Does yours reflect the true, real you? If I picked up a copy of your advertising, or one of your personal brochures, or walked into your office, would I get a sense of the real you? It's easy to hide behind "shoulds", or the way things have always been. But today's consumer needs to know what makes you unique. And, how you'll use that uniqueness in today's market to help them with their home buying and selling needs!
